Oliver Coates' (Aftersun) score for Harry Lighton's directorial debut Pillion is not what one might expect for a film centered around a BDSM relationship between bikers. The score is restrained and elegant, with piano driven compositions accompanied by spacey synth flourishes and haunting operatic vocals. What results is a romantic electro-classical soundtrack (including a synth rendition of Erik Satie's "Gymnopedie No. 1") that feels akin to flying down an open road on a speeding bike. Starring Harry Melling and Alexander Skarsgrd, Pillion releases in the UK on November 28th with a US release early next year.
