Originally released in 1965, Live in Concert captured Ray Charles working over an adoring LA crowd at the Shrine Auditorium. It was an immediate hit, landing in the R&B Top Ten and giving fans a taste of the show he'd been honing on stages around the world. Surrounded by the finest musicians of the era, Ray Charles showcased his singular ability to turn any song, no matter where or when it came from, into something universally and uniquely soulful.

But essential as Live in Concert was, it literally told half the story. With more than a half-hour of his set cut to fit on a single LP, the album only teased what went down that night at the Shrine. The full performance—including stunning reinventions of "Georgia on My Mind" and "Busted"—went unreleased for 45 years until it was finally, and briefly, released on CD in 2011.

Now, Tangerine Records is presenting the expanded edition of Ray Charles Live in Concert on vinyl for the first time ever. Restored to include the entire 75-minute concert, freshly remastered by five-time Grammy winner Michael Graves and mastered for vinyl by Jeff Powell, fans can finally experience this legendary Ray Charles show as it should have always been heard.

This expanded edition has never been released on vinyl. The original, abridged version from 1965 has been unavailable on vinyl for decades, only briefly reissued as a (now-out-of-print) limited audiophile pressing from 2011. The album has been absent from streaming platforms for several years.
