This album showcases Led Zeppelin's incendiary appearance at the Texas International Pop Festival, on 31 August 1969.
Following the release of their debut studio album, Led Zeppelin toured frantically in the UK, Europe and North America. The band's third North American tour in the summer of 1969 was exclusively made up of festival appearances. Generally considered to be their finest performance of the tour came on 31 August (the final show of the tour), at the Texas International Pop Festival, which took place at the Dallas International Motor Speedway, in Lewisville, Texas.
Performing mid-way through the second day of the festival, Led Zeppelin blew the competition off the stage, including that day's headline act Santana, performing just two weeks after their breakthrough set at Woodstock.
Zeppelin performed a sterling set of cuts from their debut studio album alongside a choice selection of blues covers, to the delight of the Texan audience who were clearly in awe at the end of proceedings.
