Rob Halford formed the band Halford in 1999 in order to return to his heavy metal roots. The group's first release, Resurrection, was met with widespread critical acclaim. Bruce Dickinson, of Iron Maiden fame, duets with Halford on the song "The One You Love To Hate".

The album is consistently ranked as one of the greatest heavy metal albums of all time. Metal-Rules.com ranked the album at #54 on their "Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums" list.
