BLANCK MASS–WORLD EATER: MARCH 3rd

Benjamin John Power’s Blanck Mass project will release this limited edition vinyl pressing on Sacred Bones Records. There are only 250 LPs in total, each one hand-numbered and outfitted with an alternate screen-printed wrap around sleeve and a Gold Blanck Mass logo badge. The vinyl will be available by mail order only.

MAGNETIC FIELDS–50 SONG MEMOIR: MARCH 3rd

This 5-LP saga will be available through Nonesuch records (and on Amazon). 50 Song Memoir coincides with the 5oth year of songwriter Stephin Merritt’s life. Merritt sings every song (one for each year he’s lived) and plays over 100 instruments on the record. The deluxe vinyl box set includes a 100-page bound booklet with interviews, handwritten lyrics and more.

ELLIOTT SMITH–EITHER/OR: MARCH 10th

Kill Rock Stars will release an expanded edition of Elliott Smith’s renowned record Either/Or to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of its release. This two-disc reissue features expertly remastered versions of the album’s original tracks as well as a disc of live multi-track recordings from the 1997 Yo Yo A Go Go festival in Olympia, Washington. Lookout for three previously unreleased tracks, liner notes, and obscure photos.

THE SHINS–HEARTWORMS: MARCH 10th

The Shins will drop their fifth studio album Heartworms next week, partnering with Newbury Comics to create a limited pressing colored edition in clear and black marbled vinyl. All of Heartworms‘ tracks are written solely by Shins’ mastermind James Mercer, except “So Now What,” which was produced by bandmate Richard Swift. Heartworms is the first Shins record since 2001’s Oh, Inverted World to be self-produced by Mercer.

LAURA MARLING–SEMPER FEMINA: MARCH 10th

Marling’s sixth studio album, Semper Femina is a gorgeous stew of blues and womanhood. It is raw and lovely – the perfect kind of record to own on vinyl…one to really lay around and soak in. Semper Femina will be released as a double disc set next week on 140g vinyl, complete with a live bonus disc, printed inner sleeve, and digital download codes for each disc.

THUNDERCAT–DRUNK: MARCH 10th

Fresh of the press and available through Brainfeeder Records, singer/songwriter/bassist Thundercat’s latest LP Drunk is an enticing record set for collectors. The set includes four red vinyl 10″ LPs, sheathed in sleeves featuring original artwork by Zack Fox. Digital download code included.

ANOHNI–PARADISE: MARCH 17th

Anohni’s Paradise EP picks up where 2016’s Hopelessness LP left off – dealing with dissent and resistance in a time of political unrest. Rich electronics and Anohni’s signature earth shattering vocals intensify the drama of the EP’s subject matter.  Paradise will be available on vinyl via Secretly Canadian.

BILL EVANS TRIO–ON A MONDAY EVENING: MARCH 24th

On A Monday Evening by The Bill Evans Trio is a never-before released live recording taken at the University of Wisconsin on Nov. 15, 1976. The LP has been pressed on 180g premium vinyl, and will be heard for the first time thanks to the gentlemen who recorded the concert in ’76 – James Farber and Larry Goldberg, who back in the day were DJs at the college’s radio station. The recording features bassist Eddie Gomez and drummer Eliot Zigmond along with Evans on piano.

THE JESUS & MARY CHAIN–DAMAGE AND JOY: MARCH 24th

Their first record in almost twenty years, The Jesus and Mary Chain’s Damage And Joy will be released on two discs of heavy-weight black vinyl. The signed LP will also include a digital download code for all fourteen of the album’s shoegaze tracks.

BOB DYLAN–TRIPLICATE: MARCH 31st

The deluxe set for Bob Dylan’s new three-disc cover album Triplicate comes in a numbered case-made book with three bound in swing pockets and a four panel folder, as well as a download card. And of course, each disc is pressed with 180g black vinyl. Bob meant serious business with this one.
